Reflections on 10th July 2025 on the occasion of Guru Poornima
||Gurave sarvalokānāṁ bhiṣaje bhavarogiṇām ||
|| Nidhaye sarvavidyānāṁ dakṣiṇāmūrtaye namaḥ ||
He who teaches not just through silence, but through movement, rhythm, and the stillness in between. To the dancer and the seeker, HE is the eternal Guru.
Happy Guru Poornima and My humble pranams to all Gurus!
Guru, what does the word mean? Does it refer to a person or a principle? While many might attribute it to a particular person who imparts knowledge and wisdom, to me it’s the principle that elevates one to the pedestal of a Guru.
As human beings, born in this material world, it is inevitable to not be carried away by the shimmer and noise around us. However, staying focused on the ultimate quest for which the soul has taken this human form is the only way to achieve oneness with the supreme divine. Isn't that the goal with which we are sent to fulfill the human birth in a righteous way?
Most of us are aware, and therefore the soul sets out on a quest to find that person who can lead and guide us on that path. Many times, we stay unaware and keep hopping from following one to another, not knowing what we are after all searching for. That's when our good deeds from past and present births (if one believes in it) come into play and put us in association with someone who can guide us, steering us away from the material glamor.
One who selflessly gives to everyone alike, nurtures with love, corrects you strictly, and continues to guide you beyond their physical lifespan, then becomes your Guru – the principle that shows you the path! Suddenly, what seemed like walking in darkness becomes crystal clear, and everything begins to manifest as per one’s heart’s desires, isn’t that the grace of the Guru!
My obeisance to all my Gurus, starting with my mother and father who not only taught the basics of life but were instrumental in my journey to reach MY GURU. Be it my first guru who sparked the fire, or my beloved Guruji who believed in me, no, correction, still believes in me though he left this world long back – or my gurus under whom I later trained: Vani Didi, Gayatri Akka, or Vidhya Akka, they have all been and continue to shape me as a human to reach my purpose: realizing the divinity internally! I am ever grateful to the Lord Almighty for putting me under them, for without them, this life would have been meaningless. Even the ones who are self-taught, are taught by an inner guiding principle, isn't it?
Happy Guru Poornima to ALL MY GURUS who have taught me and continue to teach in the form of students through whom I learn every day. What a beautiful path my gurus have put me on: to be a lifelong student!
Humble praṇāms to everyone who have been that guiding principle – a Guru to me 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
