Swara is the daughter and disciple of Guru Smt. Sudha Krishnan and is currently advancing her training under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Sridhar Vasudevan of Delhi. Having been born and raised surrounded in an environment with dance and music, it was natural for Swara to find her passion in Bharatanatyam. She has competed and performed in and around Bay Area extensively and is dedicated to forever growing and learning. As teacher at Nritya Laya Darpan, Swara began assisting classes of various levels at the school since the age of 12 and transitioned to teaching her own students as a freshman in high school. After nearly 14 years of practicing the art form and four years of training and inspiring younger students Swara is now pursuing her passion as a Dance major at UCLA. She hopes to double major in Political Science and pursue a career in Law. Swara will be continuing her role as a teacher through online classes as she furthers her own journey in a new chapter.
Raksha’s dance journey began at the age of eight and has since blossomed under the tutelage of her current guru, Smt. Sudha Krishnan, once she became a student of Nritya Laya Darpan dance school in 2018. Raksha completed her Bharatanatyam arangetram in August of 2024 and has since partaken in various local dance festivals and events around the Bay Area. The avid passion she has developed for the art of Bharatanatyam has been influential in shaping the spiritual and cultural values she aims to live by, in addition to fostering her deep love for teaching ever since she began teaching NLD students in 2023. Raksha aims to both continue her studies of and carry forth the rich history of Indian theater to future generations as a teacher. Outside of dance, Raksha is a sophomore at Las Positas Community College in pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, on the pre-law track.
